Als Motor des amöboiden Bandkollektivs Dufus, leistete Seth Faergolzia
den Antrieb für die wohl kreativste und meist geliebte Untergrundband
der New Yorker Freak- und Antifolkgemeinde. Dufus können heute auf
10 Albumveröffentlichungen und zahlreiche Tourneen durch die
Vereinigten Staaten, Europa und Japan (unter anderem mit Künstlern,
wie The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Moldy Peaches, Ween, Black Dice, Jeffrey
Lewis, Animal Collective) zurückblicken. Von der Kritik wurden sie mit
Lob geradezu überhäuft , ihre Musik unter anderem mit Frank Zappa,
Deerhoof, The Moldy Peaches, Devendra Banhart und The Dirty Projectors
verglichen.
In Seth Faergolzias Solowerk vereinen sich die übersprudelnde
musikalische Kreativität von Dufus und sein akrobatischer Gesang mit
einer neuen, feineren Form von Erkenntnis und Intimität. Durch die
einzigartige und virtuose Kombination von Bizarrer Performance und Wärme
sticht Seth Faergolzia hervor. Das unlängst erschienene, von Fans finanzierte
Album, DUFUS: ETH (erhältlich auf CD und LP) ist ein Abschied von
Dufus als Projekt und wurde im September 2010 im Rahmen der
(ausverkauften) Performance zur 13. Jahresfeier der Band in New York
City veröffentlicht. Mitwirkende an diesem besonderen Abend waren
unter anderem Künstler wie Regina Spektor und Adam Green.

Seth Faergolzia begibt sich nun mit einem "One-Man-Band"-Set-Up auf
die Walz: Bass drum, Keyboard/Noise und iPod sind Elemente, die sich
auf differenzierte und gebrochen perfektionistische Art und Weise
zwischen, neben und inmitten von Gesang und Akustikgitarre bewegen.
Bei jüngeren Konzerten verknüpft er neue Songs, Improvisationen,
elektronische Samples, ausgewählte Stücke von Dufus und Stücke seiner
neuen Rock Opera '23 Psaegz'. Jeder Abend ist als kreative Erfahrung
einzigartig.

Dufus are one of the most prolific, original, and influential bands to emerge from the chaotic mash of freak folk acoustic rock scene of New York City in the past ten years. Their sound is absolutely different, Seth Faergolzia's voice and songwriting style can be matched by no other.

Artist Information

SETH FAERGOLZIA (ex Dufus) has been assimilating instruments. His
live performances are dynamic and include not only his songwriting
wizardry and vocal acrobatics but an added bass drum and keyboard,
which he opperates amidst singing and playing guitar. For upcoming
tours, he'll be doing 3 mini-sets within his full set divided into new
material, ipod collaborations with an electronic musician, Josh
Channel, and materials from the 13 year history of Dufus. His music
has been related to that of Animal Collective, Frank Zappa and Dirty
Projectors, to name a few.
